Thanks Glenn for this and all the other wonderful tips that you share. You make it easy for me to stay on top of promoting my business. I agree, Mr. Paycheck Meets the Entrepreneur is the ultimate resource center for people looking to start (or grow) a small business and I am GLAD to be a participant in the program.

Shari, as I pointed out to Emmy, it's not always what you say, but how you say it. I know my energy is different when I view the people around me as an opportunity for friendship before I view them as an opportunity for a sale. That's also why I love the people I work with, because most of them were friends before they were clients!

Emmy, sometimes, it's not what you say, but how you say it. And simple adjustments in the words you use quickly change the way you view the people around you and indirectly the way they view you. I think the general view is that a customer is someone who buys from you once (transactional). A client is someone who always buys from you (relationship).

If you enjoyed this article be sure to share a link out to it on your FB page and to your colleagues by email. I'd love to have others share in this information.

Thank you for yet another great article. More people need to see this one. I have always referred to those I am helping as my client and/or friend or even business associate. In training past assistants, I trained them to actually not use customer, rather client. I am a customer at Giant grocery store, however, I am a client of say Springboard Training or Allstate Insurance.

Good point Claudette. I went through that in a different context with the first law firm I worked with. I had a great year, but at bonus time all I heard was how bad the firm did overall as the reason my bonus was so small. Didn't take me long to realize I would only get paid what I was worth if I was sitting in the decision maker's chair and not on the other side of the desk.

Income security is really what folks are looking for because job security is definitely a myth. You could be the best employee at a company and still be down-sized.

Good idea any way you look at it especially as a time saver. Sometimes I think if I unsubscribe then now they really know that was a good contact so this may take care of that problem.
