“Luck is when opportunity knocks and you answer”.  Unknown Author

I’m not a  believer in luck.  What most people call luck I consider to be proper positioning through preparation.  When you go to a networking event and make a productive contact, it is because you took the time to position yourself in an environment where that could happen.

The reason I don’t like the “luck” label is that it makes success sound like a random act, a crap shoot, or happenstance. Believing in luck contributes to complacency, because people decide not to position themselves for success, because they are convinced that its not worth the effort if success requires luck.

If you must view success as an issue of luck, please keep in mind that the harder you work, the luckier you get.
