“No man has a chance to enjoy permanent success until he begins to look in the mirror for the real cause of all his mistakes”.  Napoleon Hill

What is it about taking responsibility for your own destiny that causes us to look everywhere but to ourselves for answers on why we are underachieving?  Do we not understand that in order for things to get better we have to get better, and that we are the only ones who are responsible for initiating that process?

Like many of my friends, I found it easier to blame others for personal shortcomings that were holding me back.  It was easier to accept failure if I could convince myself the deck was stacked against me, or that the so called system was set up to keep me down.

I can’t remember exactly when I stopped viewing myself as a victim, but I do know that it was an empowering moment.  Once I realized that by accepting responsibility for my own happiness, my own personal growth and my own destiny, I would never again be hostage to  limiting beliefs that put my destiny in the control of others. it changed my life forever.  Now, when I get up in the morning and look in the mirror, I know there has only ever been one person responsible for successes and failures.  It’s a comfort to know that person very well and to know he is always working on getting better.
